On September 22-23, 2023, Francis made his apostolic journey to Marseille to conclude the “Mediterranean Encounters”. This is the first time in five centuries (500 years) that a Pope visited the city. The Mediterranean Meetings closed (9/23) with a concluding session at the Palais du Pharo. The Pope then meet with French President Emmanuel Macron. This is the third official meeting between Francis and the President of France.
